Donghae Mureung Health Forest
📍 455 Samhwa-ro, Donghae-si, Gangwon-do
Located at the entrance to Mureung Valley, this Center for the Prevention and Management of Environment-Related Diseases is directly operated by Donghae City. Environment-related diseases refer to conditions such as atopic dermatitis, asthma, and allergic rhinitis that are caused by environmental factors. Spanning a site of approximately 24,000 square meters, the center features an eco-friendly wellness lodge, as well as themed experience rooms, health counseling rooms, a heat therapy room, and a healthy natural cuisine restaurant. The lodge, constructed with eco-friendly materials such as yellow clay and hinoki cypress, provides a restful night’s sleep. The themed experience rooms are steam rooms that utilize natural materials such as stone, clay, and salt. Experience rooms—such as the white muscovite sauna, which emits far-infrared rays and natural anions; the yellow clay sauna, effective for removing toxins from the body; and the salt cave, where nano-salt particles cleanse the respiratory tract—help alleviate environmentally induced diseases. In the thermal therapy room, visitors lie on capsule-shaped beds to improve blood circulation through heat. A resident nurse also provides free health consultations based on basic health screenings. Even without staying overnight, visitors can participate in nature-based craft workshops, themed experience rooms, health consultations, and healthy natural cuisine experiences. Oseonnyeo Pool, open during the summer, is an eco-friendly water play area created using water from Mureung Valley.
