The Hampyeong Dolmeori Seawater Steam Therapy Center is a healing facility based on a traditional folk remedy involving seawater steam therapy that has been passed down since the 1800s. It employs a method that carries on the tradition of the “ceramic kiln steam therapy” recorded in the *Sejong Sillok* (Annals of King Sejong); its distinctive feature is heating stones rich in sulfur and medicinal herbs such as *Sammotcho* before immersing them in seawater to enhance the steam therapy’s efficacy. When sulfur stones heated to high temperatures are placed in the bath, large amounts of sulfur and alkaline components are released, which are known to help alleviate arthritis, skin conditions, and postpartum pain. Since the temperature in some areas rises to approximately 80°C immediately after the stones are added, it is essential to follow safety guidelines. The interior facilities were renovated through a remodeling project completed at the end of 2024.
