Boncho Dadam, a traditional Korean herbal foot bath experience cafรฉ that uses products from Jecheon Cityโ€”the home of herbal medicineโ€”is a place where you can relieve the fatigue accumulated from daily life and travel. The Oriental Medicine Resort: Chorakdang

Chorakdang, a traditional Korean medicine theme park, is a destination where visitors can enjoy health tours based on traditional Korean medicine. It was designated as part of the โ€œHealth Tour to Koreaโ€ program in 2001 by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, an agency under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Chorakdangโ€™s facilities include a thatched pavilion, a yellow clay cave, an annex, a forest bathing area, Buromun Gate, Seongryudang Hall, a carp pond, examination rooms, treatment rooms, a yellow clay steam room, the Chorak Museum, Baekryeonjeong Pavilion, an artificial turf tennis court, and a hiking trail (Heo Jun Walking Trail). At Chorakdang, visitors can receive traditional Korean medicine treatments and consultations in a thatched-roof house with an old-world charm. The center combines bath therapy, traditional Korean heat therapy, dietary therapy, and exercise therapy, all conducted in a natural and traditional manner. Entering the forest path behind Chorakdang leads to the Heo Jun Forest Bathing Trail. Visitors can enjoy forest bathing while walking along this trail; for those visiting for medical treatment, it serves as a spaceโ€”along with the yellow clay steam roomโ€”where they can heal in harmony with nature.

Yeoyongguk was founded based on the novel *The Story of Yeoyongguk* by Ahn Jeong-bok from the Joseon Dynasty. Yeoyongguk emphasizes that each person has a unique constitution. Since everyoneโ€™s constitution is different, there are limits to the effectiveness of one-size-fits-all massage techniques or herbal remedies. After accurately analyzing each individualโ€™s constitution, body, and skin condition, the center offers an optimal, customized program that incorporates tailored traditional Korean medicinal ingredients, aromatherapy, and massage tools. In particular, it provides a variety of specialized programs for those requiring special care, such as pregnant women with severe edema, individuals with obesity, acne, or chronic fatigue. As such, applying herbal remedies and massage techniques suited to each individualโ€™s constitution is essential to achieving the desired results.

The Hampyeong Dolmeori Seawater Steam Therapy Center is a healing facility based on a traditional folk remedy involving seawater steam therapy that has been passed down since the 1800s. It employs a method that carries on the tradition of the โ€œceramic kiln steam therapyโ€ recorded in the *Sejong Sillok* (Annals of King Sejong); its distinctive feature is heating stones rich in sulfur and medicinal herbs such as *Sammotcho* before immersing them in seawater to enhance the steam therapyโ€™s efficacy. When sulfur stones heated to high temperatures are placed in the bath, large amounts of sulfur and alkaline components are released, which are known to help alleviate arthritis, skin conditions, and postpartum pain. Since the temperature in some areas rises to approximately 80ยฐC immediately after the stones are added, it is essential to follow safety guidelines. The interior facilities were renovated through a remodeling project completed at the end of 2024.

Ganghwa Lionโ€™s Paw Mugwort, a specialty of Ganghwa Island, has a stronger aroma than ordinary mugwort and is known to be effective in preventing chronic diseases due to its high vitamin A content. Yakseokwon is introducing an immunity-boosting program using this Ganghwa Lionโ€™s Paw Mugwort. The flagship program is the โ€œRaise Your Body Temperature by 1 Degree Project,โ€ which gradually raises body temperature using steam therapy and moxibustion. Even a 1-degree rise in body temperature strengthens the immune system, increases basal metabolic rate, and improves blood circulation. Yakseokwonโ€™s โ€œRaise Your Body Temperature by 1 Degree Projectโ€ operates on a 100% reservation basis and can accommodate up to 25 participants at a time. The session begins with 40 minutes of steam therapy, followed by 30 minutes of abdominal moxibustion and 30 minutes of lower back moxibustion, for a total duration of 1 hour and 40 minutes. Participants are served a rich herbal tea made from Ganghwa Sajabal mugwort.
